Pallet transfer stations can streamline the process of the transferring unit loads between wooden and plastic pallets.

Understand the importance of strategically placing pallet transfer stations like the KOOI® Systems to optimize efficiency in inbound/outbound pallet exchange

Pallet exchange machines are essential for maintaining hygiene and safety in industries where contamination risks are high, like food and pharmaceuticals. They allow for the efficient transfer of goods between different types of pallets, such as from wooden to plastic, to meet regulatory standards and improve operational workflow without manually handling the goods, thereby reducing the risk of contamination and injury.

KOOI® Systems include stationary pallet exchange systems that can horizontally transfer the load from one pallet to another without any manual labor. They enable the rapid movement of goods while avoiding tilting (rotation), which is particularly crucial for medications to prevent contamination. Rotation is also not an option for other liquids in specific containers such as octabins. For those processes where rotating is allowed, various Pallet-Inverters have been developed.

It’s beneficial to understand that a specific choice of pallet exchange can be made based on the application.

Stationary Pull Installation

Fragile goods can easily be damaged, especially when switching between pallets. Rotating and pushing are not options since they always involve contact with the packaging. By placing the goods on slip-sheets during production, the load can be pulled from one pallet to another, allowing for a damage-free pallet exchange. With this pallet-changing operation, no physical action is necessary either, thus reducing the risk of damage and injury.

Stationary Pallet Rotator

A pallet rotator is extremely suitable for changing bagged goods on pallets since the bagged goods cannot get caught on wooden splinters or nails, as is the case with horizontal pallet exchange machines. The products, for example, can be transferred from disposable pallets to robust pallets, plastic pallets or vice versa.

Collaborating with Suppliers for Forklift Efficiency

When a pallet is pushed forward, the distance between the pallet and the forklift increases. This typically requires using a heavier forklift for one-sided loading and unloading. The reason is that the pallet’s center of gravity shifts, and the forklift needs to maintain balance with the extended pallet to prevent tipping. Additionally, the hydraulically operated extendable forks need a 4th function, which many forklift brands offer as a standard or optional feature. Therefore, it’s crucial to consult with your forklift supplier, who will likely be familiar with our KOOI® ReachForks since they are also supplied directly to most forklift manufacturers.
