QUICKLY AND SAFELY PALLET TRANSFER WITHOUT MANUAL HANDLING.

Efficient pallet transfer is achieved by pushing goods from one pallet to another.

Reasons for changing goods from one pallet to another include meeting hygiene standards, complying with international shipping requirements, reducing manual handling to prevent injuries, and using suitable pallets for specific storage systems. Additionally, switching to lighter or more durable pallets can reduce shipping costs and enhance supply chain efficiency.

The KOOI® Stationary Pallet Changer is designed for all pallet operations to be conducted with forklifts or pallet trucks. Once the pallet loaded with goods is placed on the platform, it can be activated using a remote control, allowing the goods to simply slide from one pallet to another. In this way, goods, preferably boxed, can be switched from wooden to, for example, plastic pallets or vice-versa.

  • All pallet handling is at ground level.
  • Quick pallet exchange process.
  • No rotation of goods.
  • Pallet trucks and forklifts can be used.

What are all the advantages of Stationary Pallet Changers?

Increased Safety

There is no chance of injuries because the machine can be operated from the forklift cab, and manual work is not required. The stationary towing unit is standard equipped with a warning buzzer and flashing light and can also be equipped with various other safety features.

Efficiency in Time

Changing pallets takes 30 seconds. This cycle time excludes the supply and removal of pallets. Depending on the setup, both forklifts and pallet (electric) trucks can be used for loading and unloading. No manual handling which takes extra time.

Ergonomics

Overview on the shop floor is important to work safely, which is why the pallet transfer machine comes standard with most essential safety features. It also eliminates the need for manual operations and spares workers from risk as much as possible.

Ergonomics

You often still see people removing the empty pallet by hand with rotary pallet changer machines. This is not user-friendly, and there is a chance that employees will get physical complaints. The operation can be from the forklift or two-handed operation, etc.

Cost Saving

Plastic pallets are expensive, but due to the risk of bacterial contamination, they should preferably be used in food-related environments. Due to their cost, plastic pallets are often swapped out for transport outside the production area.

Productivity

The standard version is already very productive, but the machine can also be integrated into a conveyor belt system, allowing automatic pallet changing. Pallet dispensers can supply and remove pallets, such as wooden or plastic pallets.

Frequently asked questions about one-sided (un)loading of trucks

What is a pallet-changing-machine?

A pallet changing machine is a piece of equipment designed to transfer goods from one pallet to another without manual lifting. This process is commonly required for hygiene reasons, when moving goods into a different storage area, or when shipping goods internationally where different pallet standards may apply. The KOOI® Pallet Changing Machines safely and efficiently switches the goods from a wooden, plastic, or metal pallet onto another pallet type while minimizing the risk of damage to the goods. Pallet changers are used in various industries, including pharmaceutical, food, and manufacturing, to improve efficiency, ensure safety, and maintain product hygiene during the handling and shipping processes.

How does a Pallet Changing Machine work?

Meijer Handling Solutions manufactures two different principles of pallet changing: units that allow the load to be switched between pallets horizontally, and machines that rotates the load, the co-called Pallet-Inverters. Each principle has its advantages and disadvantages.

Can I use the Stationary Pull Installation in all environments?

The Stationary Pull Installation is mainly designed to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry and a stainless steel version is one of the options we can offer. Stainless steel is essential in pharmaceutical manufacturing for example due to its non-porous nature, preventing bacteria buildup and ensuring hygiene. Its corrosion resistance allows for regular cleaning with strong disinfectants, while its durability ensures long-term reliability under harsh conditions, making it cost-effective. Additionally, its chemical stability prevents medication contamination. The material’s smooth surface further facilitates easy cleaning and sanitation, upholding stringent industry standards.

How fast does the pallet changing machine operate?

The speed of changing pallets refers to the rate at which the unit operates during the actual pallet swap. The handling speed also depends on the type (model), such as horizontal pallet changing machines and pallet inverters. Additionally, the speed can vary depending on the goods being transferred from one pallet to another. Generally, a horizontal pallet changing machine is twice as fast as a pallet inverter, which means approximately 30 seconds to a minute for an inverter.

Collaborating with Suppliers for Forklift Efficiency

When a pallet is pushed forward, the distance between the pallet and the forklift increases. This typically requires using a heavier forklift for one-sided loading and unloading. The reason is that the pallet’s center of gravity shifts, and the forklift needs to maintain balance with the extended pallet to prevent tipping. Additionally, the hydraulically operated extendable forks need a 4th function, which many forklift brands offer as a standard or optional feature. Therefore, it’s crucial to consult with your forklift supplier, who will likely be familiar with our KOOI® ReachForks since they are also supplied directly to most forklift manufacturers.
