Cross-docking involves unloading goods from an incoming truck and loading them directly onto an outbound truck, with little to no storage time in between. This allows for faster turnaround times and reduced handling costs.
One of the challenges is handling a wide variety of pallet sizes because, with the huge diversity of customers, the number of pallet sizes is at least as diverse. Euro pallets, but also block pallets and unique (long/wide) pallets, need to be handled, preferably with the same forklift.
